Eve is a funny place really when you think about things. For example, when you fire a laser in the vast vacuum of space, it loses its power after a certain distance. You fire your artillery shell off at one ship in the middle of a mass of ships – it misses the target, doesn’t hit anything else and then just disappears.
The second example I could think up an explanation of that somehow the explosives are mixed at the last minute and are only stable for a short period of time and so deteriorate after a short period of time, and the shell then self-destructs as it’s useless and you don’t want debris in the space lanes. OK, so I’m trying to think up explanations of how things in a computer game could actually exist in real life – this probably isn’t a good sign. However, the first example of the laser doesn’t really make sense and couldn’t really be explained in a similar way, so I just shrug at this point and say the all too familiar “it’s only a game”.
Hang on – isn’t Eve real?
Oh well. The point of this post is that I was filling up some small and medium projectile turrets on a POS today, and the Titanium Sabot M that I put in had disappeared when I went back to fill up some other turrets with different ammo. However, when I put in Phased Plasma M, it didn’t disappear. Even more oddly, I could then put Phased Plasma M into the turret where the ammo had disappeared, and it then disappeared.
Still with me? Even more strange, I could drop a can outside the POS and use the small artillery installation that had made my ammo disappear, and it successfully destroyed the can.
I thought long and hard (not really, but it sounds good), and couldn’t think of an explanation for this one.
Petition filed. More ammo purchased as I now can’t remember which ones I’d filled up and which I hadn’t
