How not to fly a Purifier
by A scientists life in Eve on Oct.08, 2012, under Eve online
Last night I was starting the process of setting up my Planetary Interaction. It was all going well until a neutral was reported in the next door system. I reshipped into an Onyx and a Corp mate jumped into an interceptor to go and have a look.
The neut duly entered our system, and unfortunately we weren’t close enough to the gate to get a look, but did manage to work out he was cloaked.
My Corp mate went next door to look around for a reported second neut, whil I just stayed at the station undock. A couple of minutes later I see a purifier uncloak and a bomb appear. Sadly I wasn’t in range to bubble up, and he was already aligned out, so I just docked up before the blast hit me and then undocked in a Flycatcher, as the superior lock speed would help a little.
At that point, my Corp mate reported that the Purifier had engaged him on gate. I didn’t know that my Corp mate had reshipped into a Hurricane until about 10 seconds later when he posted the killmail into Corp chat.
The Purifier fit was horrible. A shield tanked Purifier with shield modules in the rig slots, and mostly fitting modules in the lows.
It turns out that the player was only around 10 months old, and so it’s probably reasonable to assume that he could only just about sit in the ship in the first place, based on the way it was fitted. Another strange part of the fitting was that he was carrying a MWD in the cargo bay, and so the question is where would he dock to refit, considering he was dozens of jumps into Sov held null sec.
Meantime, while thinking about all of this, I ran out of time with my PI beyond choosing a place to deploy my command centres. I guess that’s for tonight, depending on how I get on with other logistics.
